SCHOLARSHIPS

We recognize high achieving college bound high school seniors in the Southern Maryland Tri-County (Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s County) area who plan to pursue Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM)-based degrees with merit-based scholarships. Since the start of our scholarship program in 2005, we have awarded a total of $449,500 in scholarships, to 107 deserving students.

HOW TO APPLY

The John Glenn Squadron, along with many other scholarship providers in St. Mary’s County, MD, use the St. Mary’s County Business, Education, Community and Alliance, Inc. (SMCBECA) Common Scholarship Application. The application can be found on the SMCBECA website.

Every year, usually in late January, SMCBECA conducts a Scholarship Fair. The Scholarship Fair is an outstanding event for aspiring scholarship recipients. Information regarding the scholarship application, and individual scholarships is available.  It is highly recommended that students who are interested in local scholarships, attend this event.
